With mayoral and local elections just around the corner, the Hackney Citizen is launching a fact-checking service to help voters get to the truth on the big issues.

From now until polls open on 3 May, residents will be inundated with leaflets, bombarded with manifesto promises from rival parties, and fed all sorts of statistics and figures.

It is important that voters are as well-informed as possible, and the Citizen would like your support in making sure that happens.

So if you have an inkling that a candidate is not being as candid as they ought to be, or you’ve seen a statistic that sounds a bit too good to be true, let us know.

Had a campaign leaflet through the letterbox? Take a picture and send it in so our reporters can have a look.

We’ll get to the bottom of any confusion and publish our findings ahead of polling on 3 May.

If you’d like anything fact-checked, email us at editor@hackneycitizen.co.uk or send us a message via Twitter or Facebook at @HackneyCitizen
