Plan to make London’s energy provision more self-sufficient welcomed by Hackney Council

Boris’ office could buy power from generators in the borough and sell it for use in Tube network and by cops

Hackney Council has said it welcomes an innovative new scheme being spearheaded by the Greater London Assembly aimed at making London more self-sufficient in terms of power generation.

As part of the so-called Energy for London scheme the Mayor of London’s office buys power from small scale generators owned by London boroughs and sells this to Transport for London and the Metropolitan Police.
