◆  A group of leaseholders have thrown a spanner in the works of the Town Hall’s massive regeneration plans for Woodberry Down by refusing to move out of their estate. But at a compulsory purchase order hearing last month, Hackney’s planning inspector said he was “spitting feathers” when the council landed him with a huge payload of loose paperwork for the case just three days prior.

Perhaps the Town Hall thought it could reach a deal before the deadline? Either way, not great preparation for a decision that could see millions of pounds go to waste. Boris Johnson would be proud though.

◆ Some of the “information, not news” that appeared in the second issue of council publication Hackney Life (which looks suspiciously like a rehash of the recently cut back Hackney Today): Glyphosate-free zone in Homerton (as featured in the Citizen and the Gazette); Community parklet trial reopens(as featured in the Citizen and the Gazette); Exam results (as featured in the Citizen and the Gazette).

So much for council publications “containing different editorial content to the local press”.
