A note on comparability. The council has elected 57 members at every one of these elections, but the number of wards changed. In 2006 and 2010 those 57 seats were spread across 19 wards of three councillors each; a 2013 boundary review then redrew the borough into the 21 wards used from 2014 onwards, keeping the total at 57. Several wards from the old map no longer exist — among them Chatham, Lordship, New River and Queensbridge — so the 2006 and 2010 figures shown here are borough-wide party totals and cannot be compared ward by ward with the later years.
