Building work started this month on a new purpose-built surgery to give Clapton residents access to improved clinical and community facilities.

The new surgery will be built on the site of the old Nightingale Practice on Kenninghall Road and is expected to cost £2.3 million. Construction is due to be completed in September 2011 and, in the meantime, the practice is operating from temporary accommodation next to the old building.

Steve Gilvin, NHS City and Hackney Director of Primary Care Commissioning, said: “This has been a truly collaborative project, with the local community actively involved shaping this building to meet their needs.”
