Two teenage boys have been arrested after allegedly being found with an 18-inch sword near Victoria Park.

Police said the boys, 14 and 15, had run away from them near Wetherell Road at 2am on 29 January. Officers detained the pair on Lauriston Road and searched the area from which they had run.

They discovered the large weapon and arrested the teenagers under the suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. The 15 year-old was also alleged to be in possession of class B drugs.

Both were taken to an East London police station and have been bailed to a date in late March.
